Main “Big Picture” Responsibilities at LDDI

I am responsible for responding efficiently and effectively to questions and requests for support from faculty and staff about the technology they use including Canvas, Zoom, Qualtrics, and Padlet. I also assist LDDI staff with their many projects such as organizing events and creating media for instructional materials about educational technology.

What are some of your specific, hands-on, day-to-day tasks at LDDI?

Day-to-day I respond to any email or phone inquiries we receive, providing immediate assistance or researching solutions using LDDI’s knowledge base. When projects in the office need an assistant, I am available to provide administrative, logistic, communicative, and creative support.

How does your work help support the LDDI office, and the Faculty of Education as a whole?

As a problem solver on demand, my knowledge and effort help smooth out any potential technical issues which would get in the way of teaching and learning for staff and students. As an assistant for LDDI’s projects, I help my team explore ways to design inclusive and accessible courses which seamlessly integrate educational technologies.

What are your specific areas of interest in the field of educational technology or beyond? How is your work at LDDI contributing or playing into those areas of interest?

I am interested in developing evidence-based theory on the healthy and effective use of AI in education, and furthermore, in creating media to share this information—encouraging constructive dialogue about AI risks and benefits. Specifically, I am keen on promoting knowledge sharing between educators and AI researchers. I likewise am passionate about finding mindful and deliberate ways to harness the incredible technology of today’s world beyond just AI, much of which has only recently been made available.

As an LTR, I contribute to the successful use of these relatively new tools to achieve exciting educational goals. Thus, my work at LDDI determining tech solutions for faculty and supporting projects exploring digital innovations in education (such as the role of AI) both deeply engage my passions.
