Humanizing Feedback Using Video and Audio: How to Use Technology to Make Feedback More Personal and Impactful

October – November 2025
Providing feedback is one of the most powerful ways instructors can support student learning, but written comments alone can sometimes feel impersonal or unclear. In this workshop, we’ll explore how video and audio tools can help educators create feedback that feels more human, supportive and engaging. We will examine the pedagogical benefits of multimedia feedback, including increased presence, clarity and connection. Practical demonstrations will highlight how to use built-in features in Canvas as well as external tools like Camtasia to record, share and organize feedback efficiently. The session will conclude with a hands-on activity where participants will practice creating their own video or audio feedback.
How It Works: This presentation is available on demand as a field trip experience at Studio B Discovery Lab. Faculty of Education instructors can book a session and bring their students for an engaging, hands-on learning opportunity. Faculty of Education instructors, faculty, and staff are also welcome to book a visit to experience the presentation individually or with a group.
