- First hour: orientation to Canvas (for new Canvas users), including course setup, basic communication tools and building community of learners
- Second hour: Using Zoom effectively in the classroom environment
- Both hours: 1-on-1 help with any learning design or educational technology question

Asynchronous Activities
Thursday, January 27 | 1pm - 2pm
Whether planning a blended course or preparing for your course to go online for a week, come explore engaging asynchronous activities that can give your students new ways to interact with each other and course content. This workshop will explore theories of blended practice and introduce you to a series of asynchronous activities and how to personalize these for your course. Come share your ideas!

Canvas: Evaluation and SpeedGrader
Thursday, February 3 | 11am - 12pm
Learn how to grade and give feedback in Canvas. This one-hour workshop is interactive and requires pre-registration so we can prepare your activities. It is intended for instructors currently teaching using Canvas.
Using a time-saving tool called SpeedGrader, you can give students enhanced feedback using document annotation, media comments, and rubrics. This workshop will give you hands-on experience in using it to the benefit of you and your students.

The Canvas refresher and Teaching with Zoom – ELI
Friday, February 18 | 10am - 12pm
Come and join us to get a refresher on how to use Canvas and Zoom for teaching. This workshop will help you get more comfortable navigating Canvas, and you will learn how to set up modules, assignments, discussions, and more. You will also learn how to integrate Zoom into Canvas, and how to make Zoom work for you and your students during your synchronous lessons. You’ll also be able to ask our team-specific questions about Canvas and Zoom.

Canvas Assignments Master Class

Join our Canvas Assignments Masterclass workshop as we take a deep dive into navigating, building, and grading assignments, group assignments and peer review on Canvas. We will uncover the hidden quirks of using these tools, troubleshooting common and not-so-common problems, and answering all your questions regarding Canvas assignments.

Canvas Basics for In-person Instruction (ELI)
Friday, April 22 | 10am - 12pm
Come join us in an interactive session where we will help you set up a basic Canvas shell and explore using the online learning environment to enhance your in-person classes. We will consider options such as entrance and exit slips, flipped classroom, online group work, creating spaces for handouts, pre-class multimedia activities.

Universal Design and Ally
Friday, April 22 | 1pm - 2pm
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework that addresses learner differences and helps to improve accessibility for learners. UDL is intended to give all students an equal opportunity to succeed. In this workshop, you will learn about the value of applying the UDL Guidelines and learn about some gaps in the framework. We will also take a look at tools and tips to help improve your courses.
Ally is one such tool that can be integrated in Canvas to help you begin. Ally can help make courses more accessible by providing you with a report containing practical guidance with its time-saving interface with identifies and ranks the improvements needed. It also allows students to download documents in alternative formats (like audio or electronic braille). This session will explore Ally in action, and walk you through how to request it for your course.
