Set up Multi-Factor Authentication in Canvas Catalog
External UBC Canvas Catalog users are required to set up multi-factor authentication. You will be prompted to set this up when you log into Canvas Catalog using your email address, and you will then receive verification codes when signing in. Please follow these steps to set up your multi-factor authentication in Canvas Catalog. If you have a UBC Campus-wide Login (CWL), you will not need to set this up.

How do I get started?
- First, visit the UBC Canvas Catalog login page: login.cpe.ubc.ca
- Select “Login with Canvas Catalog account.”

- Sign in to your account by entering your email and password, then clicking Log In.

- Now, you will need to set up multi-factor authentication. Once you set this up, you will not need to repeat this step the next time you log in. To set up multi-factor authentication, you will need to download a Time-Based One-Time Password app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. Within the app, scan the QR code shown by Canvas Catalog in order to set up the authentication. If you have an iPhone, you can alternatively scan the QR code using the camera, which will direct you to your Password settings. From there, you can add the multi-factor authentication to any password, as long as you remember which one.

- From now on once you log in, you will be asked to enter a verification code. This will be found in your Time-Based One-Time Password app. If you used an iPhone camera instead to set up your authentication, then the code will be found in Settings > Passwords. After entering the code into Canvas Catalog, click Verify, and you will be brought to your dashboard. If too much time has passed, the code will reset, and you will need to enter the new one.

Troubleshooting
- If you managed to access your account but cannot find your courses, make sure that you used the same email address to create your account and to register in the course.
- If you are prompted to enter a verification code but never initially received a QR code to set up your authenticator, contact the LT Hub to reset your multi-factor authentication.
