What are your main “big picture” responsibilities at LDDI?

My main responsibilities at LDDI involve supporting faculty and staff with their day-to-day technology needs, particularly for online courses, as well as assisting with studio and media production.

What are some of your specific, hands-on, day-today tasks at LDDI?

Much of my routine work involves responding to support requests from instructors, especially when they are preparing their courses for a new academic term. I also prepare and co-host workshops on Canvas, emerging technologies, and AI in education, assist with instructional media production, and help faculty and staff use the FoE Studio. Alongside this, I explore and experiment with new tools to understand how they can be used in education.

How does your work help support the LDDI office, and the Faculty of Education as a whole?

Overall, my work helps keep the Faculty’s technology implementation running smoothly while keeping faculty and staff informed about new tools and possibilities for teaching and learning.

What are your specific areas of interest in the field of educational technology or beyond? How is your work at LDDI contributing or playing into those areas of interest?

I’m particularly interested in AI, media production and the rapidly changing educational landscape shaped by these technologies. I’m constantly thinking about how these changes affect students, learners and instructors, and how technology can be used to improve their experiences both in and beyond the classroom. My work at LDDI gives me the opportunity to continuously explore and experiment with emerging tools, especially AI, while considering how they can actually be applied in an educational setting. I’m interested not only in what these tools can do, but also in helping people navigate the uncertainty around them, whether that means addressing fears and apprehensions, questioning blind optimism or thinking critically about when and how much these tools should be used.
