Delivering an online class in real-time using Collaborate

Imagine teaching a class even if you are away, inviting a guest speaker without worrying about the travel logistics, or giving your students a space to record and share presentations. All this is possible by using a web-conference tool called Collaborate that is available inside Connect.

Note: If you are looking to have meetings online, using the video conference equipment in Scarfe 308A may be a better option.  Please take a look at the videoconference workshops, or contact ets.educ@ubc.ca for more information.

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Identify the necessary equipment set up and apply some best practices to have a successful Collaborate session
  • Create a Collaborate session in your Connect course shell and use features such as content sharing and session recording

Please bring your own laptop so it can be configured for a Collaborate session.

Session Information:

  • March 7, 2014, 10:00-11:00AM in ETS, Scarfe 1008.
  • This session is open to all Education faculty and staff.
  • No registration necessary.
