What are your main “big picture” responsibilities at LDDI?

I am responsible for helping faculty use learning technologies through direct support and workshops. I support faculty in implementing learning technologies like Canvas, Padlet and Kaltura in their courses, and I am involved in sharing workshops on various subjects like podcasting, multimedia production and AI in education.

What are some of your specific, hands-on, day-today tasks at LDDI?

My average day at LDDI involves responding to emails and calls from faculty members who need support with UBC learning technologies. I also help organize, set up and deliver workshops to instructors and students.

How does your work help support the LDDI office, and the Faculty of Education as a whole?

I serve as a first point of contact for LDDI by assisting faculty and redirecting them to the correct resources when needed. I help with organization and efficiency by recording notes and plans for faculty events and setting up workshops. I also help the Faculty of Education by delivering timely and effective solutions to members facing learning technology challenges in their courses.

What are your specific areas of interest in the field of educational technology or beyond? How is your work at LDDI contributing or playing into those areas of interest?

I am very interested in studying the effects of new technologies in education, especially amid the emergence of AI as a teaching tool. Working as a Learning Technology Rover at LDDI gives me the opportunity to learn directly from learning designers and learning technology specialists so that I can be well-informed about AI and educational technologies, and so I may also help others learn and explore these technologies.
