TLEF Consultations

During this workshop, LDDI helped faculty with their applications for Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) projects, including cross-faculty collaborations. Session provided Consultation on :

    • Pedagogical/course design solutions
    • Technical support and recommendation for tools and technologies
    • Evaluation strategies
    • Project management
    • Budget planning
    • Liaising with other units like the Center for Teaching Learning and Technology (CTLT).

Introduction to Articulate

This Articulate Rise 360 workshop for faculty and staff provides a comprehensive introduction to Rise 360’s responsive and engaging features, from building a course structure and populating it with content to adding interactive activities and assessment questions. Turnitin for Teaching and Learning

In this workshop, we explored and discussed Turnitin, a plagiarism-checking tool with more functionality than you might expect. Opportunity to learn about how it works, how you can use it in the classroom, and discuss educative approaches to using Turnitin with students. This workshop covered:

  • overview of Turnitin
  • affordances and issues
  • demonstration of Turnitin’s different functions
  • suggested approaches for implementation.

ComPAIR for Teaching and Learning

During this session, we explored ComPAIR, a peer review tool that adds comparison to the process of students reviewing one another’s work. We demonstrated the platform’s components, overall functionality, and unique affordances for teaching and learning. This workshop was offered for ELI faculty members only. FA Canvas Orientation (for TEO)

This session covered an overview of the Canvas Learning Management System, moving content into a Canvas Course, setting up the homepage, syllabus, assignments, and modules, and a review of external tools Zoom and LOCR.

LDDI Open House: Stardust Voyage

During this Event, The Learning Design and Digital Innovation (LDDI) Unit invited FoE instructors and staff to join our Stardust Voyage on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. LDDI hosted an Open House lunch and galactic treasure hunt.

Orientation to Learning Technologies for Instructors

During this orientation workshop, new Faculty of Education instructors explored UBC’s services and learning technologies. We delved into how technology can enhance the teaching experience, and how Instructors can find support if needed. This session covered:

  • Overview of UBC Learning Technology Ecosystem
  • Intro to the Canvas LMS

 

Learning Technologies and Services for Students

During this event, the new Faculty of Education students explored UBC’s services and learning technologies. We looked into how technology can be used to improve students’ learning experience, and how to find support if they need it. The session  covered :

  • Overview of UBC Learning Technology Ecosystem
  • Intro to the Canvas LMS
  • Using technology tools in class

Games Club Launch Party

During this Game Launch Party, you could test your aim, draw four, or topple a giant Jenga tower at the inaugural Faculty of Education Games Club. As the LDDI team launched its monthly staff and faculty games club, you could bring your own games, or join one of ours, and connect with some fabulous folks over some friendly competition outside Scarfe.
